The cherry is a small fruit with round shape; the colour, usually red, depending on the variety and it can range from light yellow of the ‘Graffione Bianco’ to red almost black of the ‘Durone’.
The cherry tree, Prunus Avium, is native to Asia Minor and almost certainly of Persia. In Europe, the first official cultivation occurred in the fourth century BC in Greece, while in Italy it spread only at the end of the next century.
